The EHSM department does not have a formal internship program. Companies seeking to hire interns may use the Cuyamaca College Career Center for job postings, or contact the EHSM department chair to submit the posting to current students during the semester.
EHSM 240: Work Experience is a required course for graduation from the EHSM Associate
degree and Certificate of Achievement programs. Placement into a volunteer or work
position for work experience is the responsibility of the student prior to the beginning
of the semester in which the student takes the EHSM 240 course.
Employers seeking students for work experience should contact the EHSM Department Chair to acquire a list of current students seeking placement. The course is offered in the Fall and Spring semesters. Students are required to work for 75 paid hours, or 60 unpaid hours, per unit in the 16-week semester. The student may sign up for one to four units, and take the course twice.
Students inquiring about job placement should use the career center on campus, or
search job postings from Indeed, LinkedIn, and professional networking organizations
such as the San Diego American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) or the San Diego
American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA).
